National Soccer Success: Wyatt Burris

Wyatt Burris began his journey at Champion’s QUEST to become the best athlete and soccer player possible back in April of 2014. His short-term goals were to improve his speed and upper body strength. Wyatt’s long-term goal is to play soccer collegiately.

Wyatt is a junior at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California and plays club soccer for West Coast FC for Coach Neil Armour’s B01 team. This Summer, Wyatt’s club team traveled to Seattle to participate in the 2017 Us Youth Soccer Far West Regionals after an undefeated CRL Season. Wyatt and his West Coast FC teammates beat nationally ranked #1, #2, #5, and #40 teams in route to winning the Regionals. This qualified West Coast FC for the US Youth Soccer Nationals in Frisco, Texas, considered the top 8 teams in the country in their age group competing for a National Title.

At Nationals, Wyatt and his West Coast teammates navigated their way through some of the best club soccer teams in the nation and advanced to the semi-finals against CUP from Ohio. After pulling off the win, West Coast moved on to play Tampa Bay in the finals. Sadly, the finals didn’t go their way and ended in a 1-0 loss with Tampa Bay scoring with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game. Nevertheless, being National finalist was a tremendous honor for the boys from West Coast FC.

Wyatt and his teammates continued their amazing run this Summer in the West Coast FC Classic, which featured over 800 teams competing in the different divisions. Wyatt put in the game-winning goal with seconds remaining in the finals to seal the title for West Coast FC. Wyatt’s success on the field hasn’t come without hard work and since beginning training at Champion’s QUEST, Wyatt has improved his total athleticism by over 160%. Wyatt’s biggest improvements have been seen in his agility, strength and power. Wyatt has upped his approach vertical jump 9 inches from 23.5” to 32.5” since beginning training! He has also showed improvements in his strength and upped his push up score from 19 to 60 repetitions and his plank hold from 1:20 to 2:43. Wyatt improved his speed seen in his acceleration by lowering his 10-yard sprint time from 1.59s to 1.44s.

Keep up all the hard work Wyatt and I’m excited to follow your continued success!
