Mia Valdez started her training at Champion’s QUEST Soccer Academy back in March 2018. Mia is a 14-year-old soccer player who plays the goalkeeper and outside defender positions. Mia will be beginning her first year of high school this Fall at Mayfair High School. When Mia first arrived at Champion’s QUEST, she was playing on the AYSO Extra team for Region 106. However, in July, Mia decided to take her talents to Long Beach and join the FC Long Beach Girls ’04 team coached by Adrian Saldana.
On Mia’s first day at Champion’s QUEST, she set short-term goals of increasing her sprint speed, overall body strength, and power. Mia also set soccer technical skill goals to improve her passing accuracy, ball control, finishing, and field positioning. To accomplish these goals Mia attended the Strength, Speed, Power, Soccer 1st Touch and Soccer Finishing clinics at Champion’s QUEST. In just 4 months, Mia has dedicated 66 hours to her training at Champion’s QUEST and has shown an 136% improvement in her overall athleticism!
Mia’s biggest improvements were seen in the agility categories. She increased her single leg stability and balance by lowering her single leg skill test time from 6.26s to 4.28s. Mia improved her linear and lateral foot speed and body control by lowering her 1-2 and 1-4 drill times from 10.83 to 6.81 and 11.38 to 7.75. Also, Mia was able to improve her speed and lowered both her 5-10-5 Change of Direction and 10-yard sprint speed times. Mia increased her core strength by doubling her plank time from a 2-minute to a 4-minute hold!
Mia is always putting 110% into her training at Champion’s QUEST and her confidence on and off the field continues to grow. Mia’s next goal is to make the Mayfair High School Varsity team and become the starting goalkeeper. Mia’s long-term goal is to eventually earn a scholarship to play collegiate soccer. Continue to strive for your goals Mia and we look forward to helping you become the best athlete and soccer player you can be!
