Why is listening important for today’s young athlete? It is important because it is the foundation of learning and ultimately, the difference between a good athlete and being a Champion athlete. Listening is built on two fundamentals principles: attention and understanding. You listen with your eyes to show you are paying attention and you have focus. You hear with your ears to show you have an understanding. You put both of these two factors together you get “ The Art of Listening”. As a result, young athletes must remember the value of listening to achieve ultimate success. Now let’s take a closer look at The Art of Listening:

 

“L” stands for learning because it represents knowledge.

“I” stands for being invaluable because it represents independence.

“S” stands for Self-Motivation because it represents personal accountability.

“T” stands for Trust because it represents integrity.

“E “stands for competitive Edge because it represents separation.

“N” stands for Necessity because it represents the foundation.

“I” stands for Interests in others because it represents caring.

“N” stands for Natural Senses because it represents the basic instincts of life.

“G” stands for being Genuine because it represents uniqueness.

Now the young athlete has a true definition of the “The Art of Listening” and is prepared to be an asset to the community, to other athletes and most all, becoming a Champion. Keep Living Like a Champion, keep believing and keep listening because LISTENING will always be what makes the difference between ordinary and extraordinary!!
