Nathan has been attending Champion’s QUEST for a little over a year and every time he comes in he works hard to leave better than he came. He started out wanting to increase his speed and jumping height and with his last assessment he has managed to reach his goals in those two specific areas. Nathan is a baseball athlete and is currently not on any team roster, but is continuing to work hard and plans to try out for one this fall. His long-term goals are to play consistently in competitive baseball tournaments and to earn a spot on the varsity baseball team at Mater Dei High school. He consistently attends strength and glove works clinics, where I have personally seen him make great technical improvements in the two and a half months I have been here. With his recent reassessment testing, Nathan reached 3 of the goals he was working on.
In the linear agility he tested at 7.40 seconds, which was exactly the goal he wanted to reach. In single leg agility he tested at a 3.90 seconds, passing his goal of 4.95 seconds by almost a second. Also, he improved his core strength from only being able to hold a plank for one minute and twenty seconds to being able to hold it for four minutes. This also surpassed his goal of holding a three minute and twelve second plank. Other important areas of improvement to point out would be his speed in both the 5-10-5 test and the 10 yard sprint. In the 5-10-5 he increased his speed by 0.70 of a second and in the 10 yards sprint by 0.35 of a second. With his 10 yards sprint he his only .03 seconds away from reaching the goal he wants to. Lastly, Nathan had a major increase in his upper body strength with a total of 33 push-ups after only being able to do 3 when he first started coming to Champion’s QUEST. The total score from his first assessment was 5 points, but now he has reached a total of 25.9 points. This too passed his goal, which was 23.7. Nathan is an extremely hard working and resilient young athlete who wants to be the best version self that he can and who will have great success in the future.
