All of the coaches here at Champion’s QUEST take a great deal of pride and honor into how we training our developing athletes. We set goals in order to help retain their focus when outside obstacles may affect their train of thought.
Every quarter we trust our athlete in order to determine any changes to their training and program load. This quarter there was one athlete who came into our program not playing a sport and not too sure of which sport she enjoyed playing. Since her start at the beginning of October, Meredith Trostler has been gravitating towards Volleyball with much success.
When Meredith had first started our program last Fall, she was testing at a low All-Star level, which is our base yellow level, similar to a Karate belt system. Since then, Meredith has been here at least three times a week for our 8-10 year old B.A.S.E. clinic, which focuses on the Biomechanics of movement, Acceleration in multiple directions, total body Strength along with mental and physical Endurance. Meredith has also been attending our skill clinics which focus on Softball, Soccer and Volleyball since she is not completely committed to a single sport and she wants some exposure to multiple sports so can find one that she will play in a league.
This Winter Quarter Testing her score went up into the next Elite level and the total improvement was 294%, all this in a span of just three months. She has changed her eating habits at home, her mother shared with us Meredith has started running on her own around their neighborhood a few times a week. Her mother has also expressed that the skills which Meredith developed in our Volleyball clinics earned her a spot to play with the 6th and 7th grade Elementary School Volleyball team while she is still in the 5th grade.
From the beginning, Meredith has always presented a positive attitude toward training and developing her skills. She continues to attend other skill clinics so that she can grow those skills in multiple areas so she can feel comfortable when decides to try a different sport. Meredith is a joy to work with and is a strong example to the other athletes in the B.A.S.E. clinic. We all look forward to seeing her development throughout the years and wish her the best with this school season Volleyball.
