My name is Hector Diaz and I am currently a sophomore at Cal State Long Beach. I am majoring in Kinesiology with an option in fitness. My love for sports primarily comes from soccer. I have been playing soccer practically my entire life. I began playing soccer in AYSO region 106 when I was 5 years old and I’ve been playing ever since. I was on the varsity squad at Bellflower high school but only played my senior year due to a knee injury I received my junior year.

I graduated from Bellflower high school in 2017 and was on the honor roll with a 3.3 GPA. Other academic awards I received include, CSF (California Scholarship Federation) Lifetime member award and I also became a part of the NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars). Although, the proudest moment of my high school career would have to be winning the 2017 CIF SS boys soccer championship during my senior year. During that year I truly understood what it meant to play in a team of champions.

Winning that championship not only brought me unforgettable joy for succeeding in the sport I love, but it also taught me important life lessons such as, how much sacrifice must be made to be successful and you only get out what you put in. Those lessons stay with me every day especially since I am the oldest sibling and the first of my family to attend university. I know that I must lead by example and work hard so that my brothers do the same to better their lives in the future. This is where I get the deep drive to always accomplish more, to always go that extra mile than everyone else. So that I can not only make myself proud but make my family proud as well.

Outside of soccer, my hobbies include adventures and trying new things with family and friends, and being physically active! I have a deep belief that one of the cornerstones of success is being physically active. My career goal is to work in the field of soccer. I wish to accomplish that by either becoming a chiropractor for a soccer team or coaching youth athletes into the elite of the elite just as Champions QUEST so greatly does. Whichever path I choose I know my dedication, high energy, passion, and compassion to help others will allow me to fulfill my dreams. I am also certain that this internship opportunity at Champions QUEST is my first great steps at being one of the best in the sports industry.
