Judy McIntyre Rowing to Success…

The past couple years we have been working with an athlete by the name of Judy McIntyre who came in to increase their strength and speed to help her in pool for swim. Her Mother had wanted us to not only help Judy with speed and strength but to also increase her confidence with herself in and out of the pool. She has been a coming in for Strength and Speed clinics at least once for each every week since then.

In the two years that Judy has been an athlete here at Champion’s QUEST she has changed her focus from Swim to Crew and has been able to excel at the sport. Judy has been with a couple of different teams since she has started crew and she has found a solid spot on the Newport Seas Base Rowing Team, where they have strong sense of community among the athletes and parents. And just this past weekend during the Long Beach Christmas Regatta she sat the stroke position for both four and eight man boats. She was able to place first on the four and third with the eight boat. Before each of those races she placed third on her singles race, which was her best showing since she started Crew. Before the regatta this past weekend her best finish was fifth place out of eighteen at the Head of Lagoon Regatta.

Her Mother Bobbie McIntyre has told us “Since she started at CQ she’s improved her overall fitness and athletic ability along with her coordination, self esteem and confidence. I definitely believe the staff at CQ, especially you shouting out Judy!, has made her grow in so many ways. She plans to row in college and as this is a sport that you can do into your senior years, I can see her doing it for a lifetime. She loves it and I see it keeping her fit for as long as she does it!”

Just want to wish Judy lots of luck for the rowing season and we will continue to provide her with the land-base training she needs to increase her times on the water, help increase her confidence and guide her on a search for the right College she will take her skills to compete for.
