Meet Jayma Martin – Soccer Specialist

I am originally from Pueblo, Colorado where I grew up as a multi-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball, track and field, softball, and football. I played club soccer as a youth athlete for the Colorado Pride, and the Pueblo Rangers. During high school, I was a 4-year Varsity soccer, basketball, and track and field athlete with a very decorated career at Pueblo South High School from 2009-2013. I finished my high school soccer career as the 2nd All-Time school and City goal scorer with 99 career goals. I also was named 3x All-South-Central League First-team, 2x SCL MVP, and a 2x Denver Post Class 4A All-State First-team. Outside of soccer, I hold the All-Time City and school Long Jump record, and in my senior year, I helped our Basketball team to a Colorado 4A State Championship and was a Colorado 4A State Track & Field Bronze medalist in the Long Jump.

Following high school, I split my college soccer career between, California State University- Dominguez Hills (2013-14), Santa Monica College (2014-15), and Grand Valley State University (2015-2017). My most crucial years were my Junior and Senior years at Grand Valley State University. During my time there I scored 30 goals with 19 assists and was named All-Midwest Region First-team, GLIAC All-Tournament team, NCAA All-Tournament team, All-American Second-Team, 2x Regional and Conference Champion, and NCAA DII National Champion.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from CSUDH in 2019, and my Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Cal Baptist University in 2021 followed by a yearlong Internship at UCLA as an Athletic Performance Coach for all Olympic Sports.

Success Story

Following college, I continued to play soccer at the Professional and Semi-Professional levels. In 2019, I played with the LA Galaxy Women’s team, and we were crowned UWS National Champions. After taking a break to complete my Graduate studies, in 2022 I traveled abroad to play a Professional season with KFF Mitrovica in Kosovo, Europe. After suffering a meniscus tear in the offseason, I returned to the field in the summer of 2023 with the SoCal Reds in Irvine, CA.

My goal is to use my knowledge and experience to help younger athletes navigate their athletic journeys and achieve the success of their dreams. I want to teach athletes that reaching their goals takes a lot of work, but the journey makes you a greater person and the results are worth the sacrifices.

When I’m not coaching, playing, or working out, I enjoy writing poetry, hiking in nature, snowboarding, and cooking.
