My name is Charles Vernoy-Ging. I am a junior at Cal State Long Beach studying Kinesiology. I am a current Division One athlete as a thrower on the track and field team at CSULB. My entire life has revolved around sports and academics, I have played everything from roller hockey, soccer, basketball, football, and track and field and had a blast in all of these sports. I was fortunate enough to have an amazing coaching staff in high school who prepared me to participate in division one college athletics. It was because of their guidance and effort that they gave to me the inspiration to do the same for other people.

As a collegiate athlete, I have earned recognition in both Big West Commissioners honor roll as well as academic all-star status. I placed 10th in the Big West Conference championship my freshman year in the discus throw event. Due to injury, I redshirted my sophomore year. However, I took it as an opportunity to grow as an athlete and created goals for this coming season. My career goal is to work with athletes. Whether it is in a private setting or university level, I will use what I learned through my experience as a student athlete to improve their lives not only in the performance aspect but from a mental one as well.

Many people underestimate the journey that athletes must embark on when attempting to play college athletics. It takes a lot of time, dedication and discipline in your sport as well as in the classroom. I believe that having this experience enables me to assist younger athletes on their journey to college athletics. This experience will be very beneficial to Champions Quest. My added perspective into the athletic world especially the collegiate one will only prove to aid the kids in the facility.

Outside of athletics my hobbies mostly include camping and hiking. I love being outdoors and exploring nature. I have hiked and camped all along the coast of California from Ojai to Big Sur, each trip its own adventure. This opportunity at Champions Quest is an amazing chance to share my experience while also learning so much from the great staff of coaches that are here.
