Benjamin’s Hard Work Pays Off!!

Back in November of 2017, Benjamin Villa began his journey at Champion’s QUEST Soccer Academy. Benjamin is a 12-year-old soccer player who plays the outside back position and is a hard worker on and off the field. He attends Tetzlaff Middle School and plays for the soccer team there. Benjamin plays his club soccer for FC Premier B’04, coached by Andy Anderson.

On Benjamin’s first day, he set short-term goals of improving his sprint speed, lateral agility, total body strength and power to develop his athleticism. Benjamin also set skill goals to improve his finishing, passing, and positioning on the field. To reach these goals, Benjamin attends Strength, Speed, Power, and Soccer clinics at Champion’s QUEST.

In just over 3 months, Benjamin has devoted 59 hours to his training at Champion’s QUEST and has shown a 66% improvement in his athleticism!

Ben’s biggest developments this quarter were seen in the speed categories. Benjamin was able to improve his acceleration by lowering his 10-yard sprint time from 1.88s to 1.75s. He also showed an improvement in his change of direction speed and lowered his 5-10-5 time from 5.35s to 5.00s. Additionally, Benjamin improved all three of his agility scores (linear, lateral and single leg)! Strength gains were also seen as Benjamin upped his push up score from 18 to 33 repetitions and his plank hold time by 30 seconds.

Benjamin’s improvements were not only seen on paper in his test scores but also in his performance and confidence. Benjamin always puts his best foot forward in every training session at Champion’s QUEST. Benjamin’s long-term goal is to make the Cerritos high school varsity soccer team and eventually be named team captain. Benjamin also aspires to play collegiate soccer. Keep up all the hard work Benjamin and we look forward to watching you achieve your goals and become the best athlete and soccer player possible!
