Luz began her training at Champion’s QUEST Soccer Academy 3 years ago. Luz is 16 years old and plays on the outside either as a winger or as a fullback. Luz is currently playing for FRAM DPL. Luz is currently a three year member of the Varsity Soccer and Track Teams at Downey High School. Over the summer her club team, FRAM, won the DPL National Title where Luz scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 win.
As an 8th grader Luz came into Champion’s QUEST looking to build up her strength, increase her speed, and gain a boost of confidence. Luz knew that in order to obtain her goals she would have to put in a lot of time toward her development. Luz has put in over 350 hours of training here at Champion’s QUEST in either group or private sessions, along with working out on her own in our weight room.
As a result Luz was able to move up from a Flight 1 level to DPL while working her way to becoming a key member of the team. On the physical side she has improved immensely and is currently one of our top 5 athletes in the 14+ age group based upon benchmarking testing scores. Her biggest areas of improvement would be a 7 inch increase on her vertical jump, a 5 second decrease on her linear/lateral agility, and a 6 second drop in her single leg agility. Overall Luz’ athletic ability has improved by 675%!
Luz is also very active within the community by volunteer coaching with us here at Champion’s QUEST over the last 2 summers during our Summer Camps. Luz is hoping to use these community services hours, along with her good academic performance, to gain a scholarship to play soccer at the collegiate level. It has been great watching Luz grow into the athlete she is now and we look forward to continuing the journey with her. Keep working hard Luz, we believe in you!
